Tokyo and European Caravans will be carried out

Following the American caravan we conducted in November, the next caravan will be carried out in January next month in Tokyo and three European cities making stops in Madrid, London and Munich; and the Okinawa karate seminar and demonstrations will be held in each city.

Returned from American Caravan

The American caravan was carried out from November 16 to 28 at three cities across the U.S., making stops in Washington, D.C., Los Angeles, and Honolulu to call on local karate lovers each city to promote and encourage them to participate The 1st Okinawa Karate International Tournament.

In Washington, D.C. we held a two-day karate seminar and demonstrations. Total of 250 local karate enthusiasts participated and encouraged practicing with karate masters representing each ryuha of Okinawa.

In Los Angeles and Honolulu, the caravan also held the demonstrations in three places, and conducted the promotional activities for the tournament.

Thank you very much for participating in the seminar and demonstrations!

We look forward to seeing all of you again in Okinawa next year!!

The Tournament Overview has officially been published

The Overview of the 1st Okinawa Karate International Tournament has been published on our website today.
The preliminary rounds in Okinawa will be held in March 2018, and an inaugural dedication, cultural exchange reception, competition (KATA), and Okinawa karate seminar, etc. will be carried out during the main tournament in August 2018.
Furthermore, at the Kata competition to be held from August 2 to August 5, mainland Japan/overseas preliminary rounds will be carried out in the first half, and the main tournament of high-scoring athletes of the Okinawa and mainland Japan/overseas preliminary rounds will be conducted in the second half.

Regarding “KATA” in the tournament

The 1st Okinawa Karate International Tournament will be held with the aim of “preserving and passing down Okinawan Karate’s skills and spirituality” as we described in the tournament outline (https://okinawa-karate.okinawa/en/overview/).
In order to prepare the referee standards for evaluating the Kata of Okinawa karate, discussion and demonstrations have been started to confirm the respective Kata by each expert committee to be worthy of a tournament to be held in Okinawa.

One year to go to the tournament! A countdown calendar has been set up!

Today marks exactly one year until the opening of the tournament.
The executive committee has created a countdown calendar that counts down the number of days before the opening, and the unveiling ceremony was held today.
The countdown calendar board will be set up in the prefectural public hall on the 1st floor of the Okinawa Prefectural Government building from today up to the opening of the tournament. Please take a look at the board when you come to the Okinawa Prefectural Government building. We are looking forward to your visit!
