The 3rd Okinawa Karate World Tournament Competition Guidelines

Ⅰ General Rules

1. Tournament Composition

(1) The tournament shall consists of preliminary rounds for Okinawa and the main round.
(2) Those who passed the Okinawa preliminary rounds, as well as participants from overseas, mainland Japan, and remote islands of Okinawa, may enter the main rounds. The number of competitors who can advance from the Okinawa preliminary rounds to the main round will be determined by the Okinawa Karate World Tournament Executive Committee (hereinafter referred to as “the Executive Committee”) based on the number of participants.

2. Categories/Events

The categories and events of the competition shall be as shown in the table below.

3. Entry Qualifications

(1) Age
a. Boys and Girls Ⅰ : shall be between 6 and 7 as of April 1, 2026.
b. Boys and Girls Ⅱ : shall be between 8 and 9 as of April 1, 2026.
c. Boys and Girls Ⅲ : shall be between 10 and 11 as of April 1, 2026.
d. Boys Ⅰ : shall be between 12 and 14 as of April 1, 2026.
e. Girls Ⅰ : shall be between 12 and 14 as of April 1, 2026.
(2) As a general rule, those who reside on Okinawa’s main island (including islands connected by bridges) at the time of application, including foreign nationals, are eligible to participate in the Okinawa preliminary rounds. Eligibility for the main round is granted to those who pass the Okinawa preliminary rounds and to those residing outside Okinawa’s main island at the time of application.
(3) The participant may participate in one category of “Shuri-te kei/Tomari-te kei”, “Naha-te kei”, “Uechi-ryu” and “Kobudo (Bo)” category as well.
(4) Participants shall strive to manage their own health, such as having a medical check-up in advance (submitting a medical certificate, etc., if necessary.)

4. Implementation method

The competition will follow the 3rd Okinawa Karate World Junior Tournament Competition Rules and Regulations.

Ⅱ Preliminary Rounds for Okinawa

1. Schedule

*Depending on the number of applications, preliminary rounds for Okinawa will be held within the above schedule.
*A separate schedule will be announced if the Okinawa Prefectural Qualifying Rounds cannot be held within the above schedule.

3. Competition Procedure

(1) The competition will be conducted by a scoring system.
(2) The event will be carried out in a group format, with the grouping of competitors and the order in which they will perform to be decided by the Executive Committee.
(3) The Executive Committee will determine the number of competitors able to advance to the second round and the main round.

4. Admission Fee

The admission fee is 3,000 yen per category (including the competition fee and accident insurance).

5. Selection Method

The winners of the prefectural qualifying rounds are eligible to participate in the main round.

6. Registration Procedures

(1) In principle, application is possible through the official Registration entry form detailed below, and the application will be accepted when payment of the admission fee is confirmed.

(2) The application deadline through the official website is 23:59 (JST) on Tuesday, November 25, 2025.
(3) Change of competitors after the deadline will not be accepted.
(4) The entry fee will not be refunded if a participant cancels for personal reasons (including illness or death) after the deadline.
(5) In the event of cancellation after the deadline due to force majeure, such as natural disasters, the applicant will be refunded after bearing the bank transfer fee.

7. Registration of Competitors

Those planning to participate in the preliminary rounds for Okinawa must register for participation and receive the ID card.

8. Registration of Coach

All coaches participating in the prefectural qualifiers must register at the venue on the day of preliminary rounds for Okinawa.

Ⅲ Main Round

1. Date

July 30 (Thursday), July 31 (Friday), August 1 (Saturday), and August 2 (Sunday) 2026

3. Competition Procedure

(1) The competition will adopt a group system (up to the quarterfinals) and a tournament system (semifinals and finals) for competitors who passed the Okinawa preliminary rounds as well as those from overseas, mainland Japan, and remote islands of Okinawa, and it will be conducted using a point-based scoring method.
(2) The grouping of competitors and the order of demonstrations within each group will be determined by the Executive Committee.
(3) The number of competitors who can advance to the next round in the group format will be determined by the Executive Committee.
(4) From the semifinals onward, a single-elimination tournament format will be used, and matches will be decided by a scoring system.
(5) The tournament matchups will be determined by the Executive Committee based on the results of the most recent matches.

4. Admission Fee

(1) The participation fee for the main round is 3,000 yen per category for competitors from overseas, mainland Japan, and remote islands of Okinawa (including accident insurance).
(2) No additional participation fee will be charged to competitors who passed the Okinawa preliminary rounds.

5. Registration Procedures

(1) In principle, competitors from overseas, mainland Japan, and remote islands of Okinawa must apply through the official tournament website, and the application will be accepted upon confirmation of the participation fee payment.
(2) Competitors who have passed the Okinawa preliminary rounds are not required to submit a separate application.

(3) The application deadline through the official website is 23:59 (JST) on Friday, April 24, 2026.
*However, the application deadline may be extended based on the application status and other factors at the discretion of the organizers.
(4) Change of competitors after the deadline will not be accepted.
(5) The entry fee is not refundable if the participant cancels the registration after the deadline.
(6) The entry fee will not be refunded if a participant cancels for personal reasons (including illness or death) after the deadline.
(7) In the event of cancellation after the deadline due to force majeure, such as natural disasters, the applicant will be refunded after bearing the bank transfer fee.

6. Registration of Competitors

Those planning to participate in the preliminary rounds for overseas/mainland Japan/remote islands of Okinawa must register for participation and receive the ID card.
*ID cards and other materials will be sent by mail to those who have passed the Okinawa preliminary round.

7. Registration of Coach

All coaches participating in the main round must register at the venue on the day of the event.

8. Supporting organizations

National government agencies, municipal government agencies, local media organizations, local economic organizations, etc. (tentative)
