1. Aim of Tournament
We are holding the Okinawa Karate World Tournament to promote traditional Okinawa Karate and the future of this ancient martial art by creating opportunities for Okinawa Karate enthusiasts from all over the world to gather and interact with each other here in Okinawa, the birthplace of Karate, as well as by properly preserving and passing on the techniques and spirit of Okinawa Karate, which we have inherited from our predecessors who systematized its practice.
2. Name of Tournament
- The Okinawa Karate World Tournament
- The name of each tournament shall be preceded by a number indicating its iteration.

5. Contents
- Opening and closing ceremonies (including award ceremonies)
Opening and closing ceremonies (including award ceremonies) will be held in a manner appropriate for Okinawa, the birthplace of Karate, with the aim of introducing Okinawa’s traditional culture and developing internationally competent human resources. - Demonstration
A demonstration event will be held with the aim of deepening international and technical exchange among karate enthusiasts from within Okinawa, across Japan, and overseas, as well as showcasing the techniques and spirit of Okinawan Karate. - Tournament
A tournament (Kata) will be held with the aim of preserving and passing on traditional Kata that have been handed down to the present day in Okinawa and honing technical skills. - Okinawan Karate Seminar
An Okinawan Karate seminar will be held for participating athletes and karate enthusiasts from Okinawa, other parts of Japan, and overseas, with the aim of deepening understanding of the traditional techniques and spirit systematized in Okinawa. - Exchange meetings
Exchange meetings will be held with the aim of commending one another’s good effort at the Tournament, deepening exchange among participating competitors and affiliated parties from within Okinawa, other parts of Japan, and other countries, as well as promoting and developing Okinawa Karate moving forward.
6. Organizer
The Okinawa Karate World Tournament Executive Committee, Okinawa Prefecture, General Incorporated Association Okinawa Dento Karatedo Shinkokai.
7. Supporting organizations
For each tournament, requests for the necessary support will be made to national government agencies, local government agencies at the municipal level, local media organizations, local economic organizations, etc.
8. Accommodation and Access
- Accommodation
All participating competitors, coaches, guests, etc., from Japan and abroad (hereinafter “participants from Japan and abroad”) shall be responsible for making the necessary arrangements for their own accommodation. - Access
Participants from Japan and abroad shall use public transportation, etc., for international travel and for traveling to and from the tournament venue(s), and they shall bear their own expenses for such transportation. However, if deemed necessary by the Tournament Executive Committee, free shuttle buses shall be provided.
9. Promotional Structure
A Tournament Implementation Headquarters shall be established to oversee the necessary operations pertaining to the preparation and running of the Tournament.
10. Others
In addition to the provisions of these guidelines, all other matters necessary for the running of the Tournament shall be determined separately by the Executive Committee.
