Tournament Outline

1. Purpose of the Tournament

The Okinawa Karate World Tournament are held to create a gathering place where karate enthusiasts from around the world can come together in Okinawa, the birthplace of karate, to deepen their connections. Furthermore, it aims to correctly preserve and pass on the techniques and spirit of Okinawa karate, systematized by our predecessors in Okinawa and passed down to this day, and to promote the future development of traditional Okinawa karate and kobujutsu.

5. Contents

  1. Opening and closing ceremonies (including award ceremonies)
    Opening and closing ceremonies (including award ceremonies) will be held in a manner appropriate for Okinawa, the birthplace of Karate, with the aim of introducing Okinawa’s traditional culture and developing internationally competent human resources.
  2. Demonstration Event
    Demonstration event will be held with the aim of deepening international and technical exchanges among karate enthusiasts from Okinawa, mainland Japan, and abroad, as well as demonstrating the skills and spirituality of Okinawa karate.
  3. Tournament
    A tournament (Kata) will be held with the aim of preserving and passing on traditional Kata that have been handed down to the present day in Okinawa and honing technical skills.
  4. Okinawa Karate Seminar
    With the aim of deepening the traditional techniques and spirituality systematized in Okinawa, we will hold Okinawa Karate Seminars for participants and karate enthusiasts from within Okinawa Prefecture, Japan, and abroad.
  5. Farewell party
    A Farewell party will be held with the aim of praising each other’s efforts at the tournament, deepening exchanges between participating competitors and tournament officials from within the prefecture, Japan and abroad, and promoting the future promotion and development of Okinawa karate.

7. Supporting organizations

For each tournament, requests for support will be made to national government agencies, municipal government agencies within the prefecture, local media organizations, and local economic organizations, etc.

8. Accommodation and Access

  1. Accommodation
    All participating competitors, coaches, guests, etc., from Japan and abroad (hereinafter “participants from Japan and abroad”) shall be responsible for making the necessary arrangements for their own accommodation.
  2. Access
    Participants from Japan and abroad shall use public transportation, etc., for international travel and for traveling to and from the tournament venue(s), and they shall bear their own expenses for such transportation. However, if deemed necessary by the Tournament Executive Committee, free shuttle buses shall be provided.

9. Promotional Structure

In preparing and operating the tournaments, we will establish a Tournament Implementation Headquarters to promote operations.

10. Others

In addition to what is stipulated in these guidelines, necessary matters regarding the operation of the tournament will be separately determined by the executive committee.
